The Shelter

The Josep Maria Blanc Shelter is a mountain refuge located in Catalan Pyrenees in Spain, within the municipality of Espot, in the Pallars Sobirà region, Lleida.

It is located at an altitude of 2,350 meters, to the right of Lake Tort de Peguera, within the boundaries of the Aigüestortes National Park and Sant Maurici Lake.

Its location makes it a privileged place for excursions, ascents to the peaks of Peguera, Monestero, Saburó, Muntanyò, among others that surround it or simply enjoy nature.

It has 60 places to spend the night equipped with W.C, hot showers and heating. The kitchen service offers you the comfort of not having to worry about food or drink and the opportunity to taste the typical specialties of a high mountain shelter.

Allergies

In order to organize us as best as possible you must notify in advance any type of allergies in the reservation of the shelter or by phone 24 hours before the day of the arrival

Are you a vegetarian or vegan?

We do not have a menu for vegetarians but we can adapt the dishes if we are notified in advance, remember to let them know when booking. Due to the complexity of the supply and the particular characteristics of the kitchen, we cannot offer a vegan menu

Emergency shelter

We have an emergency shelter when the shelter is closed . It has 10 beds, gas stove heating and radio station for emergencys

4x4 taxi service

It is not possible to get to the shelter with your own vehicle but there is the possibility to go up by Taxi 4×4 from Espot by calling phone 973 624 105

Pets

Pets are not allowed into the shelter. Currently we do NOT have a closed place for them

Important information

  • The refuge is located in a natural mountain setting at 2350 m. of height over the sea, the access to the same to supply it is not easy therefore, the internal organization and the fulfillment of his schedules are fundamental to give support to the people that realize activities in the mountain.
  • There are no small or single rooms and depending on the number of people in each group they may share the room with more people or on the contrary the group should be divided into two rooms. Always guaranteeing the distances and safety measures of the COVID-19. The assignment and organization of people in the rooms will be the responsibility of the shelter staff.
  • In order to guarantee the safety distance at breakfasts and dinners, two shifts are made and their assignment will be determined by the shelter staff.
