Conservation in Action
At Duke Farms, conservation is more than a mission — it’s a living, breathing reality. Our ongoing restoration work has transformed the landscape into a thriving habitat for wildlife, including one of New Jersey’s most powerful conservation success stories: the return of the bald eagle. Since 2004, a pair of bald eagles has nested on the property, drawing thousands of viewers annually via our live-streaming Eagle Cam.
A key milestone in supporting their habitat was the removal of the Nevius Street Dam in 2013, which restored the natural flow of the Raritan River, improved fish migration, and enhanced the health of the river ecosystem. The presence of these eagles today is a powerful reminder of how coordinated conservation efforts — from reforestation to river restoration — can help nature recover and thrive.
Bald Eagles depend on clean and healthy rivers, tall trees, and abundant wild fish. That’s what Duke Farms works hard to provide every day.
