The Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green is honoring a longtime member who was the first chair of their signature event Thunderfest over 50 years ago. Hayward Minton is turning 103 years old and the club has decided to unveil a new name for the event at Minton's home. The new event name will now be called "The Hayward Minton Thunderfest" and the club expects Minton to be surprised at the unveiling.
The facility is being built upon the land that was formerly the football practice field, located between Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium and Nick Denes Field.
