Located at the entrance to Camden’s inner harbor on the western side of Penobscot Bay, Camden Yacht Club (CYC) is a vibrant, 310-member, family-oriented club whose primary purpose is sailing and boating in the mid-coast of Maine while fostering long-term relationships amongst its members and community.
CYC operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October. The harbor is a well-known destination for Down East cruisers and the club offers a limited number of moorings and floats for visiting yachts. Launch service is available to members and CYC float/mooring renters throughout the season.
Our Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program (CAYSP) provides over 500 student-weeks of instruction to all area youth in the basics of navigation and all matters pertaining to seamanship. The program has produced many fine racers who have gone on to success in college sailing and beyond.
The club provides a series of Sunset Seminars on Wednesday evenings during the season. These seminars are free and open to the entire community and provide enlightening talks with lively participant questions and answers on topics related to sea adventures, boating history and safety, and the ecology of the bay and ocean. Many attendees come early and use the grills set up for casual dining prior to the presentations.
The Camden Yacht Club, a private not-for-profit membership club, strives to uphold three primary objectives. First, in an environment that honors the boating traditions of its founders, to provide programs and facilities, and to promote boating and land activities that foster lasting friendships for its members. Second, to sustain a strong tradition of summer youth sailing training available to all children through the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program. Third, to be active, caring stewards of the Club's relationship with the surrounding community through promotion of certain programs open to non-members.
