The spectacular Lindisfarne Castle is located on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in the North Sea, off the coast of Northumberland in England. You can reach Holy Island through a road that gets covered by the tides of the North Sea for a few hours twice each day. Lindisfarne Castle was built in the mid-1500s to protect the North of England from incursions by the Scots. It sits on top of a volcanic plug known as Beblowe Crag.
